Obituary for Dan Etta Moore (Affectionately known as “MiMi” by her grandchildren and “Aunt Dolly” by her nephews)
Dan Etta peacefully entered eternal rest on December 25, 2025. She was a woman of bold spirit, strength and enduring love whose life touched generations.
A proud graduate of Kashmere High School, Class of 1968, Dan Etta valued education and lived life on her own terms. She later pursued studies in Medical Technology at Texas Southern University and dedicated a season of her professional life to the medical field, working at Park Plaza Hospital. Though capable and accomplished in her career, her heart was always drawn to family, and her greatest desire was to be a devoted wife and at-home mother.
At an early age, Dan Etta gave her life to Christ under the leadership of Reverend J. D. Moton at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith remained a guiding foundation throughout her life, shaping her values, resilience, and love for others.
Dan Etta was the proud mother of two daughters, Rochelle Dionne and Nevert Marie, whom she was so proud of and loved deeply. Later in life, she found great joy in being “MiMi” to her grandchildren—Ivy Rae, Nia Marie, and Daniel Joseph—who brought light, laughter, and purpose to her days.
A true cowgirl at heart, Dan Etta had a deep love for animals, ranching, and the outdoors. During her time in Crowley and Iota, Louisiana, she embraced country living and homemaking, finding joy in caring for a small stable of animals, including peacocks, rottweilers, and horses. She loved country music and cherished the freedom and peace that rural life brought her—reflections of her independent spirit and appreciation for God’s creation.
Dan Etta is survived by her daughters Rochelle Dionne (Tiffany Renee) and Nevert Marie (Everett La’Mar); her beloved grandchildren Ivy Rae, Nia Marie, and Daniel Joseph; her sister Karolyn Ruth; her sister-in-law Margaret Ann; her nephews Ka’Von Rashaad, Oliver Wendell, and Keary Rainier; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver W. Moore and Nevert Marie Moore; her grandmother, Ruth D. Mathis; her siblings Walter Wendell, Angela Kaye, and Rona La’Faye; and her aunt, Early Bee.
