Gregory Keith
Moore
January 9, 1965 – March 17, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Gregory Keith Moore, a cherished soul whose life touched many. Born on January 9, 1965, Gregory’s journey began under the tender care of his parents, Ellis Lee Steadman and Peggy Joyce Moore. From these roots in Houston, Gregory blossomed into a remarkable man known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to faith and family.
Gregory’s early years were marked by his baptism at Greater Mt. Olive Progressive Baptist Church under the guidance of the late Pastor L. A. Lewis. A devoted student of the Bible, he possessed an insatiable thirst for spiritual knowledge, often engaging in thoughtful discussions on scripture and his favored service, Brotherhood. His passion for God’s word illuminated his life and the lives of those who were fortunate enough to share that light with him.
Growing up and residing in the Houston Gardens community, Gregory was well known for his love of animals, a true caretaker of God’s creatures. His homestead was a lively sanctuary for chickens, ducks, dogs, and horses. Beyond his deep affection, Gregory possessed the remarkable gift of healing, serving as an unlicensed veterinarian to neighbors and friends alike. His conversations with animals bore witness to a heart attuned to the quiet language of the natural world. His adventurous spirit carried him into the rodeo ring as a bull rider and deeply involved him in the Northeast Trail Riders, an esteemed organization founded by his father.
Beyond his spiritual and animal-loving pursuits, Gregory was a fountain of laughter and joy at family gatherings. He delighted in sharing jokes and performing his own comedy routines, bringing smiles and warmth to all around him. His closeness and tender love for his family were evident to all—especially his profound bond with his mother, embodying the affectionate role of a devoted “momma’s boy.” Time spent playing dominoes, cards, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with loved ones were treasured moments that defined his generous spirit.
Gregory’s legacy is enriched by the cherished memories of those who preceded him in death: his beloved mother, Peggy Joyce Steadman; his father, Ellis Lee Steadman; his aunts Opal Lee Humphrey and Thelma Gaines; and his sibling, Albert Jack.
He leaves behind a devoted circle of family and friends to carry his memory forward: his sister Angela Steadman-Lee (Michael); three nieces, Pasha Steadman-Taylor (De’Quinston), Jania Fowler, and Janea Fowler; his three beloved grandnieces, Penny Steadman, Joy Steadman-Taylor, and Neveah Steadman-Taylor; siblings Ellis Paige, Linda James, and Stella Jones; his uncle James Winston (Walter); and a wide array of relatives and dear friends who will forever miss his presence.
A visitation to honor Gregory’s life will be held at New Testament Baptist Church, located at 3602 Green St, Houston, TX 77020, on March 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life service at the same venue on the same day from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., where all are invited to come together and remember the beautiful legacy of a man who gave so much love to his community and family.
Gregory Keith Moore’s life was a testament to faith, love, and compassion. As we bid him farewell, our hearts hold tight to the laughter, teachings, and love he shared with us all. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
