Johnnie Lee "Boo" Donahue Jr was born on October 3, 1955, in the prestigious Third Ward of Houston, Texas, to Martha Pearl and Johnny Lee Donahue Sr. From an early age, it was evident that John was destined for greatness.

He attended Jack Yates High School-affectionately known as "J.Y. Fly," as he proudly called it-where he became a legend both on and off the field. A gifted athlete, John earned All-American honors in football and basketball and was voted Most Popular, Most Athletic, Most Versatile, and Most Likely to Succeed by his classmates. Those accolades proved to be a glimpse of the remarkable life he would go on to live.

After graduating from Jack Yates High School in 1975, John accepted a full football scholarship to Texas A&M University, where he starred as a defensive tackle from 1975 to

1978. His relentless determination and athletic excellence earned him recognition throughout the Southwest Conference, including a memorable performance in 1977 when he recorded a team-high 13 tackles in the conference opener against the University of Kansas. His outstanding collegiate career led to his being drafted into the National Football League, where he proudly played for the Atlanta Falcons.

While football brought John many accomplishments, one of the greatest blessings of his life came on his birthday, October 3, 1983, when he met the love of his life, Anna Maria-what a birthday gift that turned out to be. The two were married in 1985 and shared 41 wonderful years of love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with four beloved children: Torrey, Derrick, Shara, and Jazsmine.

John's life was defined not only by his athletic achievements but also by the love he poured into his family, the pride he carried for his community, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of strength, determination, kindness, and love will live on through his family, friends, teammates, and all whose lives he touched.
