Leon George Davis Sr., a dedicated public servant and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on July 24, 1942, in Oakland, California, Leon's life was marked by his enduring commitment to his country, his community, and above all, his loved ones.
Leon graduated from Oakland Technical High School, a foundation that preceded his honorable service in the United States Army. His time in the military exemplified his sense of duty and patriotism, values he carried forward throughout his life. Following his service, he devoted his career to the United States Postal Service, where he worked with dedication and integrity, ensuring vital communication connected communities.
A man of rich character, Leon enjoyed simple yet profound pleasures. He was an avid fan of old western movies, often immersing himself in tales of the American frontier. His enthusiasm for the Dallas Cowboys was well known among those close to him, symbolizing his spirited nature and love for sports. More than anything, Leon cherished being surrounded by family and friends, finding joy and comfort in their company.
Leon was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Davis; mother, Ollie Freeman; beloved wives, Thelma Davis and Margaret Davis; and his son, Joseph Davis. Though these losses were deeply felt, the legacy he leaves behind is carried on through his living family members.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Naomi Davis, Tracey Davis, and Pamela Gorman; his sons Leon Davis and Aaron Davis; his step-son Donny Brock; and a large, loving extended family. His grandchildren Nicole Spooner, Aaron Davis, Deonte Stevens, Robert Gorman, Krista Gorman, Antoinette Davis, Darryl Davis, Traeshaun Watson, Michelle Freeman, Jasmine Freeman, and Derrina Parker were a source of immense pride and happiness to him. Further still, his great-grandchildren and many other family members continue to hold his memory dear.
Throughout his life, Leon George Davis Sr. embodied strength, kindness, and perseverance. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the warmth and love he freely gave. His spirit endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
